John Wesley Powell on the Colorado
John Wesley Powell on the Colorado. This offset color lithograph, signed in plate and in ink, was done specifically for the USGS to honor the John Wesley Powell expedition of 1869. The print shows Powell, missing an arm, braving the rocky waters with other explorers. The artist's signature is not legible but it may have been done by Rudoph Wendelin.
