USGS Budget FY 2002 Enacted

Funding for the USGS is contained in the annual Interior and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill

The table below displays the USGS Appropriations at the Activity, Subactivity, and Program Element levels for Fiscal Year 2001 (Enacted) and for Fiscal Year 2002 (Enacted) including the stages of Congressional action regarding the Fiscal Year 2002 Appropriation.

Steps in the Congressional Appropriations process include:

  1. Separate markups by the Interior Appropriations Subcommittees in the House and in the Senate.

  2. Separate markups by the Full Appropriations Committees in the House and in the Senate.

  3. Separate passage of a bill by the House and The Senate

  4. Agreement by a Conference Committee consisting of House and Senate members to resolve their differences.

  5. Passage of this Conference agreement by both the House and Senate.

  6. Presentation of this House-Senate agreement to the President for his signature or veto.

On November 5, 2001 the President signed the FY 2002 House/Senate Conference agreement on the Interior and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill, now designated Public Law 107-63. All steps in the appropriations process listed above have now been completed for FY 2002. The table below displays, at the program element level, the content of P.L. 107-63.
