Learn About Budget

Learn About Budget is a learning tool to assist you in understanding how a Federal budget is developed.  The products on this site walk you through the various stages of a budget cycle, including: 

• Submission to the Department of the Interior,
• Submission to the Office of Management and Budget,
• House and Senate action, and
• President´s signature or veto.

A timeline, FY 2007 (single year, annotated), illustrates major steps and product due dates. Future enhancements to this figure include full explanations of each step.

The Glossary includes definitions of budget jargon and often confused terminology.
