National Biological Information Infrastructure (NBII) Program Applications to be supported by USGS CSAS

The NBII Applications, Websites, and Systems described below are anticipated to be supported by the U.S Geological Survey Core Science Analytics & Synthesis (CSAS) organization. These applications are temporarily unavailable as the USGS and its stakeholders obtain the necessary resources to provide long-term support for these applications.

Please send any questions or comments to support@nbii.gov.

Library of Images From the Environment - The Library of Images From the Environment (LIFE) was a collaborative effort to make diverse, high-quality images (photographs, illustrations, and graphics) of the environment freely available for research and other nonprofit uses. The LIFE suite included an image and metadata management database; a searchable and browsable online gallery; and related Web services. These components currently are being evaluated by the USGS and partner organizations to determine their applicability to CSAS national programs and USGS initiatives. Until this effort is complete, LIFE will no longer be available to the general public.

Natural Resources Monitoring Partnership - The Natural Resource Monitoring Partnership (NRMP) is a collaborative effort by the natural resource management community to improve knowledge and understanding of existing monitoring efforts in to support effective evaluation and decision-making. This effort was led by the National Biological Information Infrastructure and the USGS Status & Trends Program. Initial discussions within USGS and among partners have recognized the unique value of, and services provided by, NRMP. USGS is currently evaluating existing options for making available again the information and resources contained within NRMP. Options may include identifying new funding to bring NRMP back online, or making the information available through other mechanisms.
