PIERC, Pacific Island Ecosystems Research Center is located in downtown Honolulu at 677 Ala Moana Blvd. Suite 615 on the island of Oahu in the state of Hawaii.

Nestled in native rain forest on the summit of Kilauea Volcano at approximately 1500 m (4000 ft) inside the Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park on the Island of Hawai'i, the Kilauea Field Station supports research on a wide variety of topics, including: invasive species impacts, endangered species biology, ecological restoration,population biology, avian disease dynamics, fire ecology and management, and more.

The mission of the Makawao Field Station of USGS/BRD is to conduct and facilitate objective research, gather and integrate baseline information, and provide technical assistance and leadership in conserving biological diversity in Hawaii, with special attention to Haleakala National Park and the islands of Maui Nui.
