How much of the country was assessed for geologic carbon sequestration?

All of the sedimentary rock basins for the entire country, including onshore and state waters, were evaluated based on criteria in the geologic carbon sequestration assessment methodology. Those basins that met the minimum criteria for the assessment methodology were then quantitatively assessed. The 2013 assessment includes 36 basins in all regions of the country excluding Hawaii, which was considered unlikely to have significant storage resources.
