Are all USGS historical topographic maps scanned and available for download?

As of mid 2014, more than 95% of the known historical USGS topographic maps have been scanned and are available for downloading or ordering. An additional 4% are in the process of being scanned and are expected to be available in early 2015.

The index of available quads is located on the USGS Availability of maps in GeoPDF format website.

A set of the original historical topographic maps resides in the archives of the USGS Library in Reston, VA. This is the largest repository of this collection; however, this collection is not complete.

Note that the current HTMC project scope is USGS topographic quadrangle maps at scales 1:250,000 and larger.
