It is practically impossible to be 100% positive about the exact numbers. For instance, there are still conflicting reports about the death toll and economic loss for the Haitian earthquake. Hence, the loss models are based on uncertain loss data. Also, part of PAGER’s value is the speed at which it releases its estimates. First responders rely on PAGER to give them an informed estimate where their efforts will be most needed. Loss estimates are inherently uncertain, but that does not mean they are not extremely useful in reducing the amount of time for proper response.
