Celebrating 50 Years of Cooperation 
Message from the USGS Associate Director for Water As a nation, we need to know the extent of our water endowment so that we can use it wisely, manage it effectively, and ensure a stable and secure water future for all Americans. Let's make a commitment as a nation and as a community of water users to make knowing what water is available a priority of the highest order. We can create a sustainable water supply for a healthy environment and a healthy economy. And we can be good and informed neighbors in our watersheds, our communities, and our nation. During the commemoration of this significant anniversary of the Decree, we celebrate 50 years of working cooperatively with all the Decree parties, resolving contentious water issues through active collaboration, and together managing a water resource for the benefit of many.
