Welcome

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) launched the Great Basin Integrated Landscape Monitoring (GBILM) Pilot to address ecological monitoring at the landscape scale. The Great Basin provides an excellent opportunity to acquire, compile, and analyze monitoring data and predict landscape change. A team of over 30 scientists and other staff are involved, representing all USGS disciplines, as well as the Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and National Park Service. In addition, the involvement of natural resource managers is critical to the project’s goal of addressing priority management issues in this imperiled region of the United States. The resulting landscape-scale information also will aid land managers in assessments of cumulative effects, understanding how local actions relate to the landscape-scale context, and prioritizing areas for future treatments.
