The USGS National Water Quality Assessment (NAWQA) Program recently released the last 15 of 51 reports on water quality in major river basins and aquifers across the Nation. NAWQA began assessing the quality of our streams, ground water, and aquatic ecosystems in 1991.
Where are the 51 NAWQA study units sampled in 1991-2001? These publications summarize the findings of 51 Study Units sampled by the USGS National Water Quality Assessment (NAWQA) Program Program in 1991-2001. Each publication in the series includes a summary of local water-quality issues and findings; several sections describing local findings in greater detail; and several sections putting local findings in a national context. Issues discussed include nutrients, pesticides, volatile organic compounds, radon, and suspended sediment in ground water and surface water.
