Course title: USGS Supervisory Challenge
Description: This is a 5 day course designed to meet the Department of Interior requirements for 40 hours of training in specific human resource topics for new supervisors. This course builds a foundation in workforce planning, position management, recruitment, developing and motivating employees, and dealing with difficult situations. It integrates these supervision and management responsibilities with principle-centered leadership, ethics, teambuilding and equal opportunity. Through the use of a variety of tools including assessments, exercises, role-plays, and web-based research, class participants learn skills to master the challenge of the new millennium workforce. The participant's cost center must pay their tuition and travel expenses to different destinations. PREREQUISITE: Must be a formal supervisor (supervisory status code 2 or 4 in FPPS) and identified for participation by Human Resources and the Office of Organizational and Employee Development.
