Description: This is a 3 day course for Natural Resource Professionals seeking to build fundamental skills for negotiating. It will be held at the Fort Collins Science Center, Fort Collins, Colorado each year. For further information go to
This training course provides participants with the basic principles, skills, and techniques used in natural resource negotiation so that they can more effectively plan for and participate in these processes. Each class typically includes students from various federal agencies as well as state and local agencies. Ample time for discussion and student participation allows for exchange of ideas and experiences. No previous negotiation experience is required, though many participants have past, present, and/or future negotiations to discuss. It is a dynamic mix of lecture, hands-on training, and discussion. During the training session, participants will apply what they learn to real-life scenarios and be evaluated by an expert panel of experienced negotiators. Course materials include a training handbook, videos, and online readings.
Target Audience:
Open to federal, state, and local government employees. Private Companies/Individuals/Consultants need not apply due to availability.
