Course title: Statistical Techniques for Trend and Load Estimation
Description: This course will explore statistical techniques for trend and load estimation. The statistical techniques include data exploration, regression techniques (emphasizing methods for dealing with non-linearities and censored values). This course will also present information on project design and sampling schemes. The exercise will concentrate on R software that has been developed within the USGS for trend and load estimation. The software will include restrend and rloadest.
Prerequisite Info:
Student must have a familiarity with the R Statistical and graphical environment and has taken the Statistical Methods for Environmental Data Analysis course (QW1075). The student must have a strong background in statistics for this course.
Target Audience:
Hydrologists who are planning or engaged in projects involving either trend or load estimation. It will also be useful for anyone designing a sampling program for either purpose.
