Course title: Introduction to Streamgaging (Blended)
Description: This course is a blended-learning event. Two on-line prerequisite courses must be completed before attending this class. Prerequisites include "Surface-Water Procedures and Policies" (SW1660) and "Procedures for Running Levels at Gaging Stations" (SW1683). After student completes the prerequisite courses, they attend the "Introduction to Streamgaging" class in Denver. Approximate seat time for this blended-learning event is 68 hours.

Students must e-mail GS_OED-TEL@usgs.gov to obtain an ID and Password for the on-line preprequisites.

Course Description:

This class is designed to provide the student with an overview of USGS surface-water field procedures and gaging-station operations. Field activities are emphasized. Students will need notebooks and writing utensils, electronic calculators, and field clothing for a mid-summer day in the Denver area.

Course Objectives:

The course provides a broad overview of USGS surface-water field methods to relatively new employees. It can also be used as a refresher for any employee responsible for operating streamflow-gaging stations or making streamflow-discharge measurements.
