Subject: New Registration Requirements for DOI LEARN Safety Certification Courses
The Office of Employee Development (OED) and Headquarters Occupational Safety and Health Team have partnered to develop new registration procedures for the following safety certification training:
- Safety Orientation Training for Newly Hired Employees
- Executive Safety Orientation: (GS-14's and above only take the following two courses, regardless of whether they are supervisors or not)
- Supervisor Safety Orientation (GS-13's and below who supervise employees)
- Collateral Duty Safety Program Coordinator Safety Orientation (All Collateral Duty Safety Program Coordinators)
- Field Employee Safety Orientation (All non-supervisory employees who work in laboratories and/or perform field work and that are exposed to a hazardous environment, i.e., hydrologists, loading dock or warehouse workers, etc.)
- Administrative Employee Safety Orientation (All non-supervisory employees who perform primarily administrative work outside the field environment, computer techs, secretarial/administrative support, etc.)
- 8-Hr Refresher for Hazardous Waste Site Operations (HazWoper) (8 Course Modules)
- Department of the Interior OSHA 600 Equivalent Instruction for Collateral Duty Safety Program Coordinators (24 Course Modules and 2 Exams)
Employees needing to complete one or more of these courses should first contact their respective Headquarter or regional safety staff listed below who will assign a corresponding learning plan that automatically links all required course modules to the basic course title. Upon learning plan assignment, employees can then access DOI LEARN, complete the course modules and print out individual course and end-of-course completion certificates.
