How good (or bad) is the water quality in Blue River and Brush Creek?
The answer depends on when and where you are in the basin. Results from the most comprehensive water-quality study to date will be unveiled Thursday, Sept. 7, by scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and officials from the Kansas City, Mo. Water Services Department.
Initiated in 1998, this study characterizes the water quality of receiving streams, provides a better understanding of the various factors that influence water quality in the Blue River Basin, and supplies scientific data to assist in the overflow control plan development.
