Media Advisory: 2011--The Year of the Flood?

Bookmark and Share

USGS will brief Congress, the media and the public on flood forecasts for 2011.

Floods were the number one natural disaster in terms of lives lost and property damage every year during the 20th century. 2011 is likely to be a particularly bad year for flooding. For more than 100 years, the USGS has played a critical role in reducing flood losses by operating a nationwide streamgage network that monitors the water level and flow of the nation’s rivers and streams.

Longworth House Office Building, Room 1334, Washington D.C.

Friday, April 15, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-NY)

The briefing is free and open to the public. No RSVP required.
