Mr. Weaver is responsible for the scientific and operational leadership of the USGS Science Centers located in the Southeast which include Field Centers in the States of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands; the Eastern Geographic Science Center in Virginia.
Mr. Weaver began his career in the USGS as a Hydrologic Technician with the Tennessee District in 1980. Jess has held a number of positions within USGS Water Discipline and began his management career as the Knoxville Subdistrict Chief in 1990. Jess was selected as the Assistant District Chief for the Tennessee District in 1993. In 1996, he moved to Alabama to become the District Chief of the Alabama District where he served until 2000. In 2000, Jess was named the District Chief for the Texas District and served in that capacity until moving to his current position as Regional Director of the Southeast Area in October 2003.Education:
Mr. Weaver earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering and an M.S. Degree in Environmental Engineering, both from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
