Extensive changes have been made to this U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) General Records Disposition Schedule. Included is an almost complete revision of the numbering of schedule items from the previous January 1997 USGS General Records Disposition Schedule. This renumbering had to be done due to the need to provide USGS employees with a more comprehensive schedule and also to more effectively separate and align functional areas into chapters. Due to the volume of additions and minor changes, they will not be noted in this section. However, for ease of reference, the following items have been deleted from the January 1997 schedule and are not reflected in this update.
