Rock Garden Walk

Large rock specimens have been placed on gravel beds around the USGS National Center site. These are examples of nearby rock units in the Triassic lowland and in the Maryland and Virginia Piedmont. Some show striking examples of sedimentary, structural, mineralogical, and weathering features.

Rocks like some of the specimens displayed have been used as building stones throughout Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C.
