The USGS Western Ecological Research Center’s (WERC) strengths reside in the capability, integrity, and dedication of its scientists, and their positions in rapidly-changing environments throughout the region. WERC’s highly educated science community is exceedingly experienced and seasoned to examine and provide solutions to the most contemporary challenges to species and habitats of concern in California, Nevada, and nearshore or Pacific island ecosystems. Their cutting edge science and the information derived is sought and recognized by Federal, State, and local resource managers and administrators throughout the western U.S. and Pacific.
