USGS Leadership Intensives Courses

Leadership Intensives (LI) are designed to deliver effective leadership experiences to a large population of the USGS in a condensed period of time. Leadership Intensives are open to all grade levels. The LIs are an investment in the development of our future leaders of the USGS. Information concerning the courses and the nomination process is provided below.
 

Course Objective

The primary objective of the Leadership Intensive course is to support the USGS goal of developing a leadership-centered culture throughout the Bureau by delivering effective leadership experiences to a large population within the USGS.
 

Purpose and Content

The two-day Leadership Intensive curriculum was specially designed and includes various components from the USGS Leadership 101 and 201 courses. The sessions are designed to be interactive and the facilitators and coaches are graduates of Leadership 201.

Course Tuition

Tuition for a LI is $400.00 per participant with a maximum of 30 students and a minimum of 18 students per class. Salary and any travel related costs will be borne by the participant’s office.

Open Enrollment Classes 
Leadership Intensives open enrollment classes have been scheduled to accommodate employees located outside their region or headquarters location, and to accommodate those with schedule conflicts who are unable to enroll in a sponsored class. Registration is first-come, first served.

The OED reserves the option to cancel open enrollment classes if demand is less than 18 participants. Open enrollment classes bear the $400 tuition fee per student and require supervisory approval.
 

Prerequisite

There are no pre-requisites for this course.
After the class rosters have been compiled, the OED will send information regarding the class rosters to the selectees.
