Description A photographer laying in a small wash snaps a shot of a group of flowering yucca in Canyonlands National Park in 1965. Shrubs such as blackbrush dot the landscape extending back towards the cliffs. A dirt road barren of veggetation curves into and out of the upper right of the frame.

Description The small wash has carved a deeper channel into the sandy soil. The yucca present in 1965 have all vanished, and in their place there are several bunchgrasses and a large mormon tea. In the background, many blackbrush present in the previous photo have survived, and the interspaces between shrubs have been colonized by bunchgrasses as well. The imprint of the dirt road has expanded with use, cutting into the vegetated area.
