Description A pinyon and juniper trees grow in the low areas below the Cove of Caves. Dead branches are a result of a recent drought in the area. A few blackbrush grow in the deeper soils in between trees.

Description Recent drought has killed or heavily damaged the pinyon and juniper trees below the Cove of Caves. Blackbrush is filling in the landscape. Casual trails are visible as lighter-colored soils, where trampling has destroyed the dark cryptobiotic crust cover.
