Description This scene, taken just above the road in the Needles District, shows the floodplain of Squaw Creek. Great Basin sagebrush fills the sandy wash, while juniper are rooted in the crevices of the sandstone bench in the background.

Description The Great Basin sagebrush in the sandy wash around Squaw Creek are showing substantial dieoff. Young cottonwood are colonizing the creek channel. Juniper and pinyon on the sandstone bench are also showing branch dieoff and mortality, pointing to prolonged drought stress in this area.
