The First Sue Nami

SAFRR has been working with students at the Designmatters program at Art Center College of Design to develop a trio of videos, each a 1-minute public service announcement to increase tsunami awareness among 18-34 year olds. Studies show that this age group is difficult to reach by conventional preparedness messaging - but worth the effort, because they are more likely than most other age groups to take action, once reached. SAFRR brought in experts from natural and behavioral sciences, emergency management, education, and public health to brief the students about tsunami issues, and work with the class to ensure accurate scientific content. A rough cut of this class-developed movie was shown to partners and colleagues in summer, 2013. Based on received comments, the end of the PSA was re-done, and the final version is now completed and available on YouTube.
