Funding Opportunity: CASCs Now Accepting FY 2022 Statements of Interest

The regional Climate Adaptation Science Centers (CASCs) are excited to announce a funding opportunity for FY 2022. The regional CASCs plan to award nearly $10 million for scientific research to address high-priority natural or cultural resource management issues that can benefit from climate-informed planning and adaptation management.

Statements of Interest (SOIs) for projects to be initiated in Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 are being accepted for the Alaska, Midwest, North Central, Northeast, Northwest, Pacific Islands, South Central, Southeast, and Southwest regional Climate Adaptation Science Centers (CASCs). Solicited projects should address high-priority natural or cultural resource management issues that can benefit from climate-informed planning and adaptation management. Specific science priorities and needs for each CASC can be found in the CASC FY22 Funding Opportunity document found on the CASC Research Funding Opportunities page.

Eligible Applicants:

Each proposal must have a Research Principal Investigator (PI) from an eligible organization. These include:

  • USGS Science Centers and other USGS entities (field stations, laboratories, Cooperative Research Units, etc.), or
  • Regional CASC Consortium Network Organizations - specific lists of consortium network members and eligibility for each CASC can be found in the Science Priorities & Details for Regional CASCs section of the CASC FY22 Funding Opportunity document (see the CASC Research Funding Opportunities page).

Parties from other organizations (federal, state, tribal, non-governmental, and other) may participate in CASC-funded projects and receive funds via subawards, contracts, or interagency agreements through an eligible organization, as described above. Non-eligible parties are encouraged to establish working partnerships with a Principal Investigator from a region-specific CASC consortium organization or USGS facility.

Informational Webinars:

The CASC Network will host an informational webinar and question and answer session pertaining to this solicitation on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. This webinar will be recorded and made available for online viewing.

Regional webinars will also be held to address specific regional research priorities, evaluation criteria, and funding flows. Dates and times for each webinar are listed below.
