Checking equipment inside a crest stage gage

Checking temperature equipment at crest stage gage near San Angelo.

USGS Hydrologic Technicians (Hydrotechs) are out in the field, on perfect (and not so perfect) Texas days.   They're installing gages, checking routine gage functions, and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.   They're the first ones out (as soon as it's safe) during and after a flood, to ensure that critical data are available to all.  They're out at streams, lakes, wells, crest-stage gages, and everywhere else USGS collects data.   And in between, they're reviewing data, making sure that USGS data meet high standards for accuracy and dependability.

The Texas Water Science Center has a current Hydrotech opening in the Lubbock office.
