Markup Reviewer Troubleshooting Tips

If you are encountering errors or other issues when using the Markup Reviewer tool, try taking a step back and running through this basic troubleshooting checklist:

• Are you using ArcMap version 10.5.1?
   
• Do you have the latest version of Markup Reviewer tool installed (currently 1.3.0.0)?
   
• Do you have the TLS 1.2 protocol patch installed?
   
• Is the MXD data frame coordinate system set to GCS_North_American_1983 (Layers right-click > Properties > Coordinate System > Geographic Coordinate System > North America > NAD 1983)?
   
• Have you added one or more hydrography layers (NHD or WBD) to the ArcMap Table of Contents?
   
• Try closing and reopening ArcMap up to three (3) times.
   
• Try removing all ancillary data layers (basemaps, other GDBs, markup results) from the MXD.
   
• Try uninstalling and then reinstalling the Add-In tool:
  • To uninstall: Open ArcMap; go to Customize Menu->Add-in Manager->Add-Ins tab; select the add-in from the "My Add-Ins" list and click "Delete this Add-In". Remove Markup Reviewer button from toolbar where it was installed (drag button from toolbar or reset entire toolbar: Go to Customize Menu->Add-in Manager->Customize button->Toolbars tab-> select toolbar name -> "Reset...").
  • To reinstall: follow instructions in the Markup Reviewer User Guide.
