Pu`u `O`o to rootless shield

HVO volunteer sampling lava the easy way--using long-handled hoe rather than hammer or trowel. Crust on shelly pahoehoe flow was broken through to enable sampling of molten interior. Site is on northernmost rootless shield (Okita shield) about 130 m downtube from Cookie Monster.
