SAFRR Presentation for Disney Global Crisis Management

On Wednesday, September 24th, Dr. Lucy Jones gave a presentation as part of a series of National Preparedness Month webinars coordinated by the Walt Disney Company Global Crisis Management Team in Burbank, CA and to be broadcast to their employees across North America. Dr. Jones provided an overview of natural hazard risks in Southern California, including not only earthquake risk as outlined with the ShakeOut Scenario, but also the need to assess other risks that may be under-appreciated, such as from landslides, wildfire, and flooding (as exemplified with the ARkStorm Scenario, California's other but lesser-known possible 'Big One'). She also highlighted the added layers of interdependencies and vulnerabilities unique to modern technology and society that should not be ignored.
