USGS is Hiring a Recent-Grad Groundwater Hydrologist in Pennsylvania

The USGS Pennsylvania Water Science Center is looking for a recent graduate quantitative groundwater hydrologist to join our team in southeastern Pennsylvania. This is a Term Pathways appointment for one year, with possible conversion to permanent. Ph.D. or M.S. graduates preferred. U.S. citizenship is required. 

The USGS Pennsylvania Water Science Center plans to hire a recent (within 2 years) graduate quantitative groundwater hydrologist to join our team in our Downingtown (Philadelphia suburbs), Pennsylvania office. Current projects include studies related to PFAS contamination from federal facilities, support for statewide monitoring programs for groundwater quality, and exciting opportunities about groundwater/surface water interactions as a part of the USGS Next Generation Water Observing System pilot project in the Delaware River Basin. National and international opportunities are also possible.

Major anticipated activities as Hydrologist (Groundwater):

  • Use quantitative methods such as analytical and numerical modeling, GIS, and data analytics applicable to groundwater studies
  • Collect hydrologic data relating to groundwater quantity and quality
  • Evaluate groundwater use and availability, including water quality
  • Contribute to interpretive reports and journal articles
