The Pennsylvania Water Science Center is looking for two recent graduates, one focused on groundwater and one on water quality, to join our team. These are Term Pathways appointments for one year, with possible conversion to permanent. Ph.D. or M.S. graduates preferred.

The USGS Pennsylvania Water Science Center is hiring two recent-graduate (within 2 years) groundwater and water-quality hydrologists to join our team. The positions can be located in any of our 4 offices: New Cumberland (Fairview Township, near Harrisburg), Bridgeville (near Pittsburgh), Williamsport, or Downingtown (near Philadelphia).
Current groundwater projects include studies related to pesticides in groundwater, county-wide baseline groundwater quality assessments, and integrated water availability assessment of the Delaware River Basin. Current water-quality projects include near-real-time in situ monitoring with surrogate regression model development as well as future opportunities including water-quality modeling and determining occurrence and distribution of microbes in surface waters. Regional and national opportunities are also possible.
Major duties as Hydrologist (Groundwater, USGS-PATH-21-10988059-RG-TC):
- Evaluate groundwater use and availability, including water quality
- Collect hydrologic data relating to groundwater quantity and quality
- Use quantitative methods applicable to groundwater studies
- Contribute to interpretive reports and journal articles
Major duties as Hydrologist (Water Quality, USGS-PATH-21-10984783-RG-TC):
- Evaluate water quality as it relates to ecological and human health
- Collect hydrologic data relating to surface water and groundwater quality
- Use quantitative methods applicable to water-quality studies
