USGS staff from across the Coastal and Marine Hazards and Resources Program will present at the virtual Coastal GeoTools conference

The Coastal GeoTools conference is held every two years to bring together scientists and geospatial professionals to share ideas, research, and tools to help coastal resource management professionals. USGS staff will present on diverse topics including collaborative statewide mapping efforts, how stakeholder engagement is enhancing USGS’s ability to provide the most useful coastal data possible, and how USGS elevation data and event support maps support disaster management strategies along the Nation’s coast.

Xan Fredericks of the St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center (SPCMSC) will present, "Disaster Management and Visualization of Spatial Data: USGS Event Support Maps and Multi Agency High Water Mark Planning Dashboard" in a session on Tools for Infrastructure planning, along with a second talk titled, "The Florida Coastal Mapping Program (FCMaP): Coordinating High-Resolution Mapping of Florida’s Coastal Waters" in the session “Mapping: Getting it Done Together.” Jeff Danielson of the Earth Resources Observation and Science Center (EROS) will present, "The USGS Coastal National Elevation Database (CoNED): Integrated Topobathymetric Models and Applications for U.S. Coastal Zone" in a session about National Elevation Strategies. Finally, Emily Himmelstoss from the Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center (WHCMSC), Kara Doran (SPCMSC), Erika Lentz (WHCMSC), and Andy O’Neill of the Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center will present on, "Coastal Change Hazards and the State of Our Nation’s Coast" in a session on Sustainable Development.
