The Southern Nevada Networks Unit consists of eight dynamic, passionate, and dedicated hydrologic technicians responsible for operating approximately 130 streamgages, crest-stage gages, continuous and discrete groundwater wells, rain gages, and discrete streamflow measurement sites in an area covering from Las Vegas to Ely, Nevada in the north, Death Valley, California in the southwest, and Littlefield, Arizona to the east.  The work is fast-paced and includes opportunities to perform indirect measurements, special project work such as seepage runs, and the use of some great equipment ranging from a Polaris RZR to a Leica Multistation.  The Unit meets or exceeds continuous records processing guidelines with typically ~90% of records in compliance.

The office is currently located in Henderson, Nevada, but will be relocating to Boulder City, Nevada to a newly renovated facility on the Bureau of Reclamation campus in 2021.  Boulder City is a quiet town 26 miles southeast of Las Vegas and is one of two cities in Nevada where gambling is not legal.  With 310 sunny days per year and only 4-6 inches of rain per year, opportunities for desert recreation abound, with hiking, birding, off-highway vehicle recreation, world-class rock climbing, and boating and swimming available year-round.  A ski resort is even available in the Spring Mountains outside of Las Vegas!
