Volcano Awareness Month 2021 programs temporarily postponed
Volcano Awareness Month 2021 programs are temporarily postponed due to the eruption that began in Halema‘uma‘u at Kīlauea’s summit within Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park on December 20, 2020. The USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) will be posting a revised Volcano Awareness Month schedule of recorded programs here later this month.
The revised Volcano Awareness Month schedule will consist of video recordings that will be posted to the HVO website later in January so that they can be viewed safely from home.
In the meantime, HVO continues to encourage volcano awareness by sharing eruption photos and videos, maps, and updates to the HVO website. Check the current eruption website for more information and updates on the ongoing eruption in Halema‘uma‘u at Kīlauea’s summit.
