Since its founding in 2009, the Community has grown from 50 participants to more than 2000 members. Through regular meetings, special seminars, and other events, the Community can get engaged and stay informed about activities underway within the USGS and with other organizations. Membership
If you are a practitioner and interested in data integration or any of the collaboration areas, consider becoming a CDI member. Members are notified about monthly meetings, special workshops, and other opportunities. Membership is voluntary and open to USGS employees and other individuals and organizations willing to contribute to the community.

Collaboration Areas
CDI Collaboration Areas share ideas, leverage resources, and identify solutions to support scientists. These focused teams support data management, innovative technologies, Semantic Web, software development, disciplinary groups, and many other communities of practice. Annual Request For Proposals
Through the annual CDI proposal process, funds have been awarded for projects focusing on data integration for interdisciplinary research, innovative data management, and potentially cutting edge technology.
Eligibility: Any USGS Mission Area, Program, Center, Office or duty station and their partner(s) are encouraged to apply. However, all proposals must have a USGS employee as a principal investigator.

Workshop
The CDI holds in-person workshops every two years. These meetings are a crucial step for focusing people, resources, and Bureau-wide efforts across the USGS on data integration tools and services, data and information management, and computational methods. Participants join to grow their expertise in handling scientific data, to propose collaborative paths to solve data challenges, and to share knowledge with their network of peers.
The 2025 CDI Workshop will be held from April 29-May 2nd, 2025 at the National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.
