Chemsitry data for assessment of the containment pond vegetation at Canyon Mine 2017-18

These data are comprised of measurements of elements (e.g., uranium, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, cadmium, lead, etc.) in Canyon Mine containment pond vegetation samples collected in calendar year 2018, plus mercury in vegetation samples collected in 2017 and 2018.

US_Navy_facilities_Palmyra_Atoll_1944

Data set contains individual structures and use-areas identifiable from scanned images of 1944 hand-drawn map of buildings and facilities at Palmyra Atoll during World War II, at which time the atoll served as a training facility for the U.S. Navy. Scanned images were georeferenced against control points identifiable from 2007 QuickBird satellite imagery and on control points for which...

SPMD_samples_Palmyra_Atoll_2008

Semi-Permeable Membrane Devices (SPMDs) were deployed for approximately 2 weeks at Palmyra Atoll during October and November, 2008. SPMDs passively accumulate organic compounds from the aquatic enviroment, and are then analyzed for various organic compounds. The deployment date, reasons for selecting the particular site, and photograph numbers as links are indicated.

Science to Inform Management of Floodplain Conservation Lands under Non-Stationary Conditions

Within large-river ecosystems, floodplains serve a variety of important ecological functions. A recent survey of 80 managers of floodplain conservation lands along the Upper and Middle Mississippi and Lower Missouri Rivers in the central United States found that the most critical information needed to improve floodplain management centered on metrics for characterizing depth, extent, frequency...

Fish fillet lead concentration sample locations in the Big River, Southeast Missouri Mining District Missouri, USA, 2005-2012

Lead (Pb) and calcium (Ca) concentrations were measured in fillet samples of longear sunfish (Lepomis megalotis) and suckers (Catostomidae) collected in 2005‒12 from the Big River, which drains a historical mining area in southeastern Missouri, where a consumption advisory is in effect due to elevated Pb concentrations in fish. Regression analysis indicated that fillet Ca explained 75‒&gt...

Fire probability for 1900-1929 using CGCM baseline climate values

Globally, changing fire regimes due to climate is one of the greatest threats to ecosystems and society. This dataset presents projections of historic and future fire probability for the southcentral U.S. using downscaled climate projections and the Physical Chemistry Fire Frequency Model (PC2FM, Guyette et al., 2012). Climate data from 1900-1929 and projected climate data for 2040-2069 and...

2016 Upper Missouri River Dye-Trace Experiment Data

Data were collected in June 2016 as part of a dye-trace experiment in the Missouri River downstream from Fort Peck Dam, Montana, USA. Fluorometers were deployed at 8 measurement stations over a 135-km study reach. Approximately 51 L of Rhodamine WT (RWT) dye was injected on 26 June 2016 at 14:30 MDT. The injection occured along a transect located approximately 3000 meters downstream from the...

Organochlorine residues in starlings (Sturnus vulgaris) from the continental United States 1974-1985: National Contaminant Biomonitoring Program

The National Contaminant Biomonitoring Program (NCBP), which was developed and maintained by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), monitored concentrations of environmental contaminants in fish and wildlife over a period of about 20 years. Beginning in the 1960s as a component of the multi-agency National Pesticide Monitoring Program (NPMP) and continuing through the mid-1980s, fish and...
