Mineral Environmental Studies

Some past mining and exploration activities have negative environmental effects.  Scientists from EMERSC are conducting research projects to determine the potential risks trace metals can pose to human health, aquatic organisms, and ecosystems. Information on the sources, transport, and fate of products from mining is crucial for predicting the environmental effects of mineral extraction.
