Users, Uses, and Value of Landsat Imagery
Science Center Objects
Since 1972, Landsat satellites have been orbiting the Earth and capturing snapshots of our planet’s ever-changing surface.
The USGS and NASA work together to manage this ongoing series of Earth-observing satellite missions and to make the global imagery available to the public. The imagery is applied in a variety of applications and brings value to many aspects of society.
FORT conducts research to better understand the value of the imagery by addressing the following research questions:
- Who uses Landsat imagery?
- What is the imagery used for?
- What qualitative and quantitative value does the imagery hold?
