Estimated and measured streamflow and groundwater-level data in the Mississippi Delta

This data release provides the data that support the findings in "Characterizing groundwater and surface-water interaction using hydrograph-separation techniques and groundwater-level data throughout the Mississippi Delta" by Killian and others (2019). There are two child items below: (1) Estimated baseflow includes the baseflow_est data and metadata that contain daily mean streamflow data provid

Bathymetry and Storage Capacity of Dierks Lake, Arkansas

A bathymetric survey of Dierks Lake, Arkansas, was conducted in late June - early July, 2018, by the Lower Mississippi-Gulf Water Science Center (LMG WSC) of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) using methodologies for sonar surveys similar to those described by Wilson and Richards (2006) and Richards and Huizinga (2018). Point data from the bathymetric survey were merged with point data from an aeri

Bathymetry and Storage Capacity of Gillham Lake, Arkansas (ver. 1.1, April 2020)

A bathymetric survey of Gillham Lake, Arkansas, was conducted in June, 2018, by the Lower Mississippi-Gulf Water Science Center (LMG WSC) of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) using methodologies for sonar surveys similar to those described by Wilson and Richards (2006) and Richards and Huizinga (2018). Point data from the bathymetric survey were merged with point data from an aerial LiDAR survey c

Hydrologic event-based water-quality and streamflow data for three oxbow tributaries in northwestern Mississippi, 2007-2016

For about 10 years, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has monitored water quality and streamflow in three agricultural drainage ditches in an effort to evaluate the influence of best management practices on water quality. These ditches are small tributaries to oxbow lakes located in the Mississippi Alluvial Plain of northwestern Mississippi--two sites (LWSR and LWT2) drain to Lake Washington and o

Digital surfaces of the bottom altitude and thickness of the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer and site data within the Mississippi Alluvial Plain project region

Bottom altitudes of the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer (MRVA) were compiled from interpretations of subsurface geophysical logs (log picks) at about 10,000 boreholes and wells located throughout the Mississippi Alluvial Plain (MAP) that were available from previous investigations. Five sources of the bottom altitude data are listed numerically in the Cross Reference section (below) and

Revised Data and Supporting Information for Seven Sites located on the Lower Mississippi and Atchafalaya Rivers sampled as part of a cooperative sediment program with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, October 1989 through February 2015

Suspended-sediment concentration, percent by mass finer than 0.0625 millimeters, instantaneous stream discharge, and suspended-sediment discharge for seven sites in the Lower Mississippi-Atchafalaya River Basin have been revised following a program review. This dataset provides the pre- and post-review revised values, along with supporting information as described in the associated publication (No

Data used in the creation of total phosphorus and total nitrogen SPARROW models for the state of Tennessee

This data release consists of the data used to develop SPAtially Referenced Regression On Watershed(SPARROW) attributes models for estimating loads of total phosphorus and total nitrogen in Tennessee streams. These data support the publication containing the Tennessee SPARROW models results (Hoos and others, 2019) and include model input used in the South Atlantic-Gulf Drainages and Tennessee Rive

Summary of streamflow statistics for USGS streamgages in the southeastern United States: 1950 - 2010

This dataset contains statistical descriptions of observed daily-mean streamflow for 956 sites in the southeast United States. For each site, statistical descriptions are provided according to decade for up to six decades, beginning in 1950 (1950-59 calendar years) and ending with 2000 (2000 - 2009 calendar years) with no more than 7 missing values per year in total (continuous or noncontinuous).

Geospatial data supporting assessments of streamflow alteration to support bay and estuary restoration in the Gulf States

The state-of-the-science for implementing restoration of flows for freshwater and estuarine ecosystems health has improved markedly. Many successful examples now exist for improving the timing and delivery of freshwater flows through collaborative processes such as modification of flow regimes through operational changes made through dam re-regulation, dam removal, conservation and efficiency, im

Generalized regions of the Mississippi Alluvial Plain

As part of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Water Availability and Use Science Program study of the Mississippi Alluvial Plain (MAP), a shapefile representing seven generalized regions of the MAP extent as defined by Painter and Westerman (2018) was compiled. The generalized regions provide a framework for analysis, visualization, and regional comparisons of local data within the MAP. Regions nor

Trend analysis results for sites used in RESTORE Streamflow alteration assessments

Daily streamflow discharge data from 139 streamgages located on tributaries and streams flowing to the Gulf of Mexico were used to calculate mean monthly, mean seasonal, and decile values. Streamgages used to calculate trends required a minimum of 65 years of continuous daily streamflow data. These values were used to analyze trends in streamflow using the Mann-Kendall trend test in the R package

Aggregated Data Records Describing USDA Conservation Practices Implemented Within the Chesapeake Bay Watershed

This data release contains aggregated data records documenting the implementation of USDA conservation practices on farms within the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The data are supplied as annual totals aggregated by county, and by eight digit hydrologic unit code (HUC-8) watershed. The initial data release covers 2007-2017, and updates are planned for December of each year. The data provided here, an
