Bioassessment/ Biomonitoring

One of the many challenges of conservation and restoration lies in defining what constitutes a “healthy” versus an impaired ecosystem.  Clear distinctions between these ecosystem conditions would allow managers to identify tangible benchmarks for tracking success of restoration efforts. Researchers at Leetown Science Center are developing and applying novel metrics that can be utilized by managers to assess ecosystem health under a variety of conditions.
