Landscape Ecology

Landscape ecology studies focus on identifying patterns and processes across ecosystems.  These studies investigate spatial heterogeneity; traditionally occur across broad spatial scales; and often include the effects of humans on landscape level processes.  Researchers at Leetown Science Center model species distributions, genetic diversity, habitat availability and connectivity, in a range of ecosystems throughout the United States.
