Flooding and Peak Flows
Peak flows in Oklahoma and Texas can range from zero flow in very dry basins to flows that cause flooding and can cause extensive damage. The USGS Oklahoma-Texas Water Science Center monitors peak flows at real-time monitoring stations and maintains a network of crest-stage data collection gages to collect additional peak-stage data.

Post Hurricane Harvey Assessment
In the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Harvey related flooding, the USGS Texas Water Science Center and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) initiated a cooperative study to evaluate the magnitude of the flood, determine the probability of occurrence, and map the extent of the flood in Texas.
