Message from the Director

Welcome to the USGS Oregon Water Science Center’s website.  The USGS Oregon Water Science Center provides reliable scientific information in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest that describes, interprets, and informs management of water resources for the benefit of the American people.

Since 1904 the USGS Oregon Water Science Center (ORWSC) staff have been addressing hydrology issues important to people and communities in Oregon and beyond, including water use and availability, water quality, and water hazards such as flooding, landslides, and contaminants.  We have more than 100 highly-trained staff of scientists, technicians, and support personnel primarily stationed in Bend, Central Point, Eugene, Klamath Falls, and Portland.

Please explore our web pages to learn more about the ORWSC’s data, projects, and publications.  Reach out to me directly if you’d like to hear more about our work, discuss your information needs, make connections with our staff, or if you’re interested in a career with the ORWSC.
