DATA RELEASE - Remote sensing derived maps of tamarisk (2009) and beetle impacts (2013) along 412 km of the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon, Arizona - Data

These data are aerial image-derived, classification maps of tamarisk in a riparian zone of the Colorado River. Two maps are published: 1) a classification of tamarisk from a 0.2 m resolution multispectral image dataset acquired in May 2009, and 2) a classification of tamarisk impacted by the tamarisk beetle from a 0.2 m resolution multispectral image dataset acquired in May 2013.

DATA RELEASE - Landscape-scale wildlife species richness metrics - Data

These raster data represent the results of a case study in Arizona on how vertebrate richness metrics can be used with existing state and federal guidance in wind and solar energy facility siting. Each of the four geodatabases contain eight native terrestrial wildlife group models in Arizona: all vertebrates, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals, bats, raptors and long-distance migratory birds...

DATA RELEASE - Variable Terrestrial GPS Telemetry Detection Rates: Parts 1 - 7—Data

Here we explore environmental effects on GPS fix acquisition rates across environmental conditions and detection rates for bias correction of terrestrial GPS-derived large mammal habitat use. We also evaluate patterns in missing data that relate to potential animal activities that change the orientation of antennae and characterize home-range probability of GPS detection for four species.

DATA RELEASE - Flow management and fish density regulate salmonid recruitment and adult size in tailwaters across western North America—Data

These data are a compilation of rainbow and brown trout monitoring data collected by state agencies over several decades in tailwaters downriver of dams in Colorado, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, New Mexico, Arizona, California, and Oregon.

DATA RELEASE - Riparian vegetation, Colorado River, and climate: Five decades of spatiotemporal dynamics in the Grand Canyon with river regulation—Data

These data include image-based classifications of total vegetation from 1965, 1973, 1984, 1992, 2002, 2004, 2005, and 2009, and characteristics of the river channel along the riparian area of the Colorado River between Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Mead Reservoir.

DATA RELEASE - Laboratory experiment data—turbidity response to increasing silt and clay concentration-Data

These data were compiled during a laboratory experiment showing the turbidity response to increasing silt and clay concentration. The sediment used for the laboratory experiment was collected in the Grand Canyon study area, from the bank of the Little Colorado River, approximately 1 kilometer upstream from its confluence with the Colorado River.

DATA RELEASE & MODEL - Humpback Chub and Rainbow Trout Joint Mark-Recapture Data and Model, Colorado River, Arizona-Data & Model

These data were compiled for a joint mark-recapture analysis of humpback chub and rainbow trout and include capture histories for both species, and environmental covariates associated with monthly time steps used to measure survival and growth, and environmental covariates used to predict capture probability during each sampling trip.

DATA RELEASE - Food Web Data, Colorado River Corridor, Grand Canyon, Arizona, 2006-Data

These data were compiled for a manuscript that examines the riverine food-web structure of the Colorado River below Glen Canyon Dam to its confluence with Lake Mead. Tissue from primary producers (vascular plants & algae) and consumers (aquatic invertebrates & fish) were collected before and after monsoon floods in 2006 along the 388-kilometer segment of the Colorado River in the...

DATA RELEASE - Long-term Experimental Forest Growth and Drought Data

Forests around the world are experiencing severe droughts and elevated competitive intensity due to increased tree density. These data were compiled to represent multi-decadal forest growth across eight different experimental forests in the United States, each with replicated levels of density treatments, as well as an important drought index correlated to growth.

Undiscovered Continuous Gas Colorado Plateau

This dataset is based on U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) resource assessments for “undiscovered” gas resources, which are resources that have not yet been extensively proven by drilling (USGS 2014). Individual resource assessments describe the amount of petroleum resources in units with similar geologic features. We focused on the amount of undiscovered continuous gas because...

Vegetation and Soils Data from Grazed and Ungrazed Watersheds in the Badger Wash Study Area, Colorado, USA

In 2004 U.S. Geological Survey biologists recorded vegetation and biological soil crust (BSC) cover by species as well as measured soil stability and compaction data along 85 transects at the Badger Wash study area, approximately 10 miles northwest of Mack in western Colorado. Soil samples were collected and processed for chemistry and texture. Using analysis of variance and nonmetric...

Geomorphic Change-Sediment Transport Data for the Little Colorado River, Arizona, USA

These data were compiled to accompany flow modeling work on Little Colorado river above the mouth (USGS gage 09402300). The data include topographic data collected by LIDAR and total station in June 2017, high water marks from nine historic floods, and control points and gage structures. Topographic data include ground topography collected by LIDAR and channel bathymetry collected by total...
