Area of habitat still above water per decade of projected sea level rise for islands in two study areas off Florida's Gulf coast

Sand beaches are dynamic, making it difficult to accurately predict habitat loss from sea level rise (SLR). We mapped sand beach habitat based on two datasets - a remotely sensed land cover and hand-digitized aerial imagery collected concurrently with digital elevation data. Data include the predicted area of beach habitat still above water (units = number of pixels) from SLR per decade, for 3 SLR

Data Release: Buttonland Swamp, SET data

This study examined long-term changes in ground height using Surface Elevation Tables (SETs). Measurements were taken in the floodplains of the Cache River at Buttonland Swamp in southern Illinois. The sites where data was collected included Crawford Tract and Eagle Pond from 2020-2022 and Deer Pond and Snake Hole from 2005-2022.

Data Release: Buttonland Swamp, water data, 2021

A Solinist water logger was used to collect water data at the Crawford Tract section of the Cache River Watershed in Illinois from June 22nd to November 29th of 2021. This data included temperature, pressure, and depth.

Vegetation survey of southwest Florida for use in assessment of the Picayune Strand Restoration Project effects

This release consists of vegetation data collected across an environmental gradient at Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge (TTI NWR) near Naples, Florida, USA. The refuge is within the impact area of the Picayune Strand Restoration Project (PSRP), a large-scale hydrologic restoration project in southwest Florida that was authorized by the U.S. Congress in 2007. Vegetation transects were

Molecular and distributional data used to investigate misidentifications, population genetic diversity, and spatiotemporal trends in distribution for Pleurobema riddellii to help guide ESA listing decisions

We provide genetic and distribution data for the Louisiana Pigtoe, Pleorubema riddellii, to guide decisions related to federal protection for the species under the U.S. Endangered Species Act. Our final dataset includes 125 COI sequences generated as part of our study representing P. riddellii from eight North American river basins. This includes the COI sequence we generated from a museum specime

Evaluating if abundance and behavior of shorebird species are related to restoration and habitat at Whiskey Island and Caminada Headland, Louisiana from 2012 to 2020

Barrier islands provide resources and ecological services that are integral to economic and environmental interests, such as protection of coastal infrastructure and providing habitat for wildlife. Over time, barrier islands may become eroded and experience land loss, which require management actions to restore island integrity. The process of restoring barrier islands can create new habitats but

South Lake Lery Shoreline and Marsh Restoration (BS-16): 2012 and 2018 land-water classifications

The Louisiana State Legislature created the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in order to conserve, restore, create and enhance Louisiana's coastal wetlands. The wetland restoration plans developed pursuant to these acts specifically require an evaluation of the effectiveness of each coastal wetlands restoration project in achieving long-term solutions to arresting

High resolution water quality and dissolved carbon data from a coastal Louisiana salt marsh from 2019 to 2022

Continuous water quality sensor data were collected at USGS 292939089544400 Wilkinson Bayou cutoff north of Wilkinson Bay, LA gage. Field water-quality measurements were collected using a YSI EXO2 water-quality sonde equipped with a data logger to capture hourly data using sensors for measuring water temperature, specific conductance, salinity, pH, oxidation and reduction potential (ORP), fluoresc

Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) Project Priority List (PPL) 32 proposed project vector data

Geospatial dataset of the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) Priority Project List (PPL) 32 candidate projects. Geodatabase contains line and polygon feature classes that contain proposed restoration project features and boundaries.

Coastwide Reference Monitoring System (CRMS) 2021 land-water classification data, Eastern Louisiana

Wetland restoration efforts conducted by the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in Louisiana rely on monitoring efforts to determine the efficacy of these efforts. The Coastwide Reference Monitoring System (CRMS) was developed to assist in a multiple-reference approach that uses aspects of hydrogeomorphic functional assessments and probabilistic sampling for monitor

Mitochondrial and microsatellite genetic data from Cape Sable seaside sparrow feather samples collected 2011-2018

The federally endangered Cape Sable seaside sparrow (Ammospiza maritima mirabilis) is endemic to the Greater Everglades ecosystem in southern Florida. The subspecies inhabits the fragmented freshwater marl prairies and contains six subpopulations (A-F), named for management purposes, since genetic information is lacking. To evaluate genetic connectivity and inform management decisions, feather sam
