Jonathan Godt, Landslide Hazards Program Coordinator, U.S. Geological Survey
Jonathan is the Coordinator of the U.S. Geological Survey Landslide Hazards Program and is responsible for scientific direction and priorities of the only federal program devoted to landslide science and risk reduction. Dr. Godt has been with the USGS since 1996 and took over the Coordinator duties in 2014.
Eric Waage, Director, Emergency Management, Hennepin County (MN)
Eric is the Director of Emergency Management for Hennepin County, Minnesota, a jurisdiction of over 1.2 million people. He leads the county’s disaster readiness, response and recovery program. Since becoming director in 2011 he has guided Hennepin County through three federally-declared disasters and numerous others. Waage has also provided planning assistance to the State of Alabama after the 2011 Tornado Outbreak; helped coordinate air operations for the State of New York after Superstorm Sandy in 2012; and managed food and water distribution points on the Florida Keys after Hurricane Irma this year. He holds a bachelor of science in geography as well as a masters in strategic studies from the United States Army War College.
Penny Luehring, USDA Forest Service, National BAER Program Leader
Penny has almost 40 years of experience with the Forest Service as a soil scientist and watershed specialist in Wyoming, Arizona, and New Mexico. In her current position, she oversees the Forest Service’s Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) program, which assesses and implements urgent post-wildfire actions on 114 National Forests and Grasslands across the nation.
Jennifer Bauer, L.G., Principal Geologist/Co-owner, Appalachian Landslide Consultants, PLLC
Jennifer is co-owner and principal geologist of Appalachian Landslide Consultants, PLLC out of Asheville, NC. She has 16 years of engineering geology experience with the last 11 years specializing in landslides and landslide mapping with ALC and the North Carolina Geological Survey’s Landslide Hazard Mapping Program. Jennifer is a Past President of the Association of Environmental & Engineering Geologists (AEG), an international professional organization dedicated to applied geology.
