Data Management and Spatial Studies - GGGSC Completed
We provide support for geospatial analyses, mobile field data collection, management of geospatial collections including documentation, and distribution of all dataset types (geophysical, geochemistry, remote sensing (hyperspectral), etc.). GIS and data management support are provided including hyperspectral and geophysical studies that improve capabilities and applications for investigating critical minerals, and data management and delivery support for the Earth Mapping Resources Initiative. We investigate methods development, mobile GIS applications, and data visualization in support of the Center's data needs. Public and internal website support for the science center are provided via this project.

Filter Total Items: 23Magnetotelluric Data from the San Andreas Fault, Parkfield CA, 1990
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Geology, Geophysics and Geochemistry Science Center (GGGSC) collaborated with the USGS Data at Risk (DaR) team to preserve and release a subset of magnetotelluric data from the San Andreas Fault in Parkfield, California. The San Andreas Fault data were collected by the Branch of Geophysics, a precursor to the now GGGSC, between 1989 and 1994. This data release includes geochemical, x-ray diffraction mineralogical, and electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) data on rocks, soils, and sediments collected near the Orange Hill and Bond Creek porphyry copper deposits, Nabesna quadrangle, Alaska. Geochemical analyses were completed by a laboratory under contract with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Electron microprobe and x-ray diffraction miLaboratory data from testing parameters of EPA Method 3060A on Soils Contaminated with Chromium Ore Processing Residue 2013-2016
It has been shown that EPA Method 3060A does not adequately extract Cr(VI) from solids containing chromium ore processing residue (COPR). We systematically tested modifications to prescribed parameters of EPA 3060A towards improving extraction efficiency of Cr(VI) from NIST SRM 2701, a standard COPR-contaminated soil from New Jersey (NJ). The alkaline extraction fluid leached Al, Si, and B from thAirborne electromagnetic and magnetic survey data, East Poplar Oil Field and surrounding area, October 2014, Fort Peck Indian Reservation, Montana
Airborne electromagnetic (AEM) and magnetic survey data were collected during October 2014 in a 553-square-kilometer area that includes the East Poplar oil field on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in northeastern Montana, USA. Data surround the town of Poplar and extend south into the Missouri River floodplain. Data were acquired with the SkyTEM301 transient electromagnetic helicopter-borne sysFluid Inclusion Noble Gas Data From Goldfield and Tonopah Epithermal Au-Ag Deposits
Twenty-five ore and gangue mineral separates from the Miocene-age Goldfield and Tonopah epithermal Au-Ag deposits in southwestern Nevada were analyzed to determine the helium, neon, and argon (He, Ne, and Ar) isotopic compositions contained in fluid inclusions. Four mineral separates from the Butte Main Stage vein deposit and two from the Bingham pyrite-enargite vein deposits were also analyzed. FTitanium concentrations in stream sediments from the Atlantic Coastal Plain of the southeastern U.S. (1975-1999)
The titanium concentrations were obtained from a data set that is called the "National Geochemical Survey." This data set, as well as its documentation, are available in U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 2004-1001 (https://mrdata.usgs.gov/geochem/doc/home.htm). The titanium concentrations were measured in 3,457 samples of stream sediments from the coastal plain of the southeastern United StaPhysical properties by geologic unit in the southern San Luis basin, New Mexico
Physical properties of geologic units are important for geophysical interpretation because they provide the tie between lithology and geophysical fields. For gravity data, the applicable physical property is bulk density, which is the overall mass per unit volume of rocks, sediments, and their pore spaces. Bulk dry density is the mass per unit volume measured when the sample is dry. Saturated denAirborne Magnetic Total-Field Survey, Manchester Region, Iowa, USA
This data release includes the airborne magnetic survey data collected from the Manchester region of Iowa. The Mineral Resources Program of the U.S. Geological Survey is tasked with understanding the nation's mineral resources. Precambrian rocks concealed under Paleozoic sedimentary rocks in northeast Iowa are poorly mapped and understood. Detailed high-resolution airborne magnetic surveys, groundThree GIS datasets defining areas permissive for the occurrence of uranium-bearing, solution-collapse breccia pipes in northern Arizona and southeast Utah
Some of the highest grade uranium (U) deposits in the United States are hosted by solution-collapse breccia pipes in the Grand Canyon region of northern Arizona. These structures are named for their vertical, pipe-like shape and the broken rock (breccia) that fills them. Hundreds, perhaps thousands, of these structures exist. Not all of the breccia pipes are mineralized; only a small percentage oWater and Sediment Geochemistry Data from the Vicinity of Yellow Pine, Idaho, 2014-2015
Samples were collected at or near baseflow conditions. Water pH and specific conductance were measured in the field, with specific conductance also measured in the laboratory and calculated based on the ionic strength of samples based on laboratory analyses. Water samples were collected for laboratory analyses using a peristaltic pump with silicon tubing. Samples were filtered through a reusablWater and Air Temperature Throughout the Range of Rio Grande Cutthroat Trout in Colorado and New Mexico; ; 2010-2015 V2
This data set characterizes the thermal regime in a number of Colorado and New Mexico streams that contain populations of Rio Grande Cutthroat Trout (Oncorhynchus clarkii virginalis) or have been considered potential restoration areas for the fish. The majority of these streams had no previous record of continual temperature records. When compared to Colorado water temperature criteria (Cold Tier - Publications
